Hunter walked into the kitchen to get some breakfast, and said good morning to Davey and Jade just as Adam walked into the room.
“So did she wake up yet?” Hunter asked Jade. “No not yet! I think I will wake her up now though.” Jade replied. Jade walked out of the kitchen and opened the door to my room as I left it unlocked and came inside to wake me. But not seeing me in the bed scanned the room. Seeing my foot under the desk as Hunter and Davey walked inside and asked him where I was, Jade said I was sleeping under the desk in the corner. He walked over to the desk and squatted down and shook my foot to wake me. I startled and sat up fast hitting my head on the underside of the desk unaware of my surroundings and scared. Shaking until I realized where I was and who the man in front of me was, as Jade moved the chair out from the desk to help me up. “Why are you hiding? Jade Asked. “I am used to hiding for safety.” I told him. “What time is it?” I asked, Davey said to me “It’s almost 10 AM.” “You know you can use the bed right?” Jade Said. I nodded my head. So I got up and went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth with the toothbrush Marissa gave to me the night before. Finishing, I went into the kitchen to eat some breakfast.
Hunter still not over the events of the day before forcefully tried to be nice by saying in a snarky attitude “I hope you don’t mind but most of us are Vegan and Adam is a vegetarian.” I replied in a soft but not too harsh voice “It’s OK I am a Vegan too.” His eyes widened at this information along with the others. “How did you do it?” Davey asked. “Being out on the street and Vegan I mean.” “It was very difficult and I had a hard time finding decent food, it was why I stole the bag of food from the restaurant when I saw it.” I said and then I launched into a detailed explanation of the owner lady at the bakery who gave me Vegan bread and soymilk for breakfast and detailing my meal trek across town to pick the meat from my food at the shelter.
Jade was sitting there listening to everything I said and for the first time Hunter’s gruff manner subsided as I recounted my daily life trying to live homeless and Vegan.
Marissa walked into the kitchen after driving an hour from the home where her and Jade lived but Jade stayed here because him and the guys were working on a new album, and Jade did not want to disturb Marissa’s sleep. She said “Girl, I tried to wash your clothes but they are so old and stained I threw them away, we will just buy you some new clothes.” “NO! I screamed, startling everyone in the room, you can’t. They mean so much to me.” “Please tell me you did not throw a black T-shirt with hand prints away please!” I whimpered about to cry at the loss of the only proof of my children besides a few old photos.
“No that was the only shirt that was considered in good condition” she said. I let out a sigh of relief and told everyone it had my kid’s handprints on it. We had made it a few days before my husband threw me away, abandoned on the streets of San Francisco.
After the drama and story telling over breakfast we headed to a part of LA I had never been to, filled with rich looking shops and rich people. As we got out of the van we headed into a shop where Marissa greeted the owner, who seemed to know her. “I am bringing my friend in for a little shopping” she said. So Jade and Marissa both turned to me and at the same time said “shop away!” Looking at them with disbelief, I said “how much do the clothes here cost?” Jade replied “Don’t worry about the cost, it’s on us.” Unsure of my self I looked around at all the items hanging on racks and folded neatly on shelves around the store.
Walking to the nearest shirt that seemed more my style a black Sweater that fell of the shoulders and looking at the price “damn, four hundred dollars for something I could make myself at the cost of twenty dollars” I exclaimed. “Never mind the price” Jade said, “Just go to town.”
Hesitant on what to get and trying not to look like I was making their offer a shit excuse, I said “Wal marts was cheaper and I was used to low priced clothes”, but grabbed the sweater anyways to pick up their somber expressions, I picked out a Pair of blue jeans with an embroidered flower design down the Left pant leg from the pocket down to the knee area. And a cream colored tank with thin shoulder straps. We left after Jade paid for the clothes and walked down the street to another shop. As we walked in Marissa suggested I buy a skirt for the tank top. I automatically said “no way! No way am I ever going to wear a skirt.” “Come on, what’s so bad about skirts?” she said. I replied in a distasteful manner that “skirts were the devils design to enslave women and was easy access for men to rape women.” Jade chimed in with a quick “not always.” I recounted all the times I saw women who were raped while wearing skirts and Jade broke me off in mid sentence to say “Those are the bad men. Not every man takes advantage of women.” Trying to be polite but not quit sure how to reply I said “Not every man is morally ethical nor are most men in this world straight edge.” Jade, having nothing to say after this quietly slinked to a nearby chair and sat down. I picked out a black denim pair of jeans and a cotton blouse similar to the one I wore when I left the shelter the night before. And I grabbed a beautiful cotton and Irish lace nightgown with a matching night robe. Walking out of the shop after the clothing was paid for we went next to a shoe store, where I picked out another pair of Adidas and a black pair of 3 inch heeled shoes with an ankle strap to keep them in place. Glancing at a black pair of ankle high boots that laced up in back of the heel with a black satin ribbon. Grabbed them as well and paid for the shoes. Next we went to a hair salon to get my hair done as it had grown out shaggy and frizzy from a year of not getting it cut. Jade talked to the stylist who would be doing my hair while I looked through books of hair styles. I chose a short ear length cut with waves and got a perm. It turned out very well and was very feminine, even though I was mostly wishing for a masculine style for ease of care, but seeing as everyone wanted me to wear a dress, a feminine cut and style was necessary.
After spending almost six hours shopping and getting my hair done we went out to eat. We went to the Vegan glory, a Vegan Thai restaurant near the West Hollywood area where we were shopping for clothes. I ordered a spicy eggplant dish, a salad with tahini dressing, some soy milk and lychees without the syrup. A very delicious meal for lunch. I ordered my eggplant extra spicy and the guys watched me eat it all without grabbing for a drink, surprised that I could eat such spicy food. Smiling, I said “I lived in China and Taiwan for four years, I was used to it.”
After lunch we finished the day off with some manicures and three more stops for clothes as two outfits didn’t seem to be enough to the guys for me. They took me to a small shop that had masculine style Punky-Goth clothes, and I got a pair of black jeans again with a well fitting black tank top that had a hot pink lacy cover on top to hide my bra, I also got three new under ware sets that fit rather well and had good support for my large breasts. And a trip to a hot topic store to get some new gauged jewelry for my ears. I had the 0 gauge plugs for almost two years and needed a new pair.
After all was done we headed home where Hunter played chef and cooked a fabulous dinner, consisting of a three-bean salad some Vegan lasagna and steamed broccoli with a fruity flavored drink, I thought it reminded me of a fruit smoothie. For desert we had Peanut butter cookies and soymilk.
The guys finishing first, leaving me at the table alone as Davey and Jade talked about Blaqk Audio songs and lyrics and listening to some new music tracks, while Smith, Hunter and Adam watched some TV to zone out and talked about possibly going out to some clubs that coming Friday. I snuck over to the sink realizing they wanted me to eat till I was full but with lunch and a well off dinner decided to wash the dishes out of thanks to all they had done.
Then decided it was time for bed, I went to the bathroom to take care of my bedtime routine, brushing my teeth, and washing my face using the toilet. I slipped quietly into bed as Jade had suggested earlier in the morning and fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up at 9 Am, went to the toilet and brushed my teeth again and walked into the kitchen to find it empty, A note was on the table that said They had gone to the studio to work for the day and to cook what ever I needed, breakfast was already on the kitchen counter and some coffee left in the coffee maker. I finished the breakfast and coffee and washed all the dishes in the house as well cleaning the kitchen and re organizing the kitchen cupboards.
Moving on to the living room, cleaning off the small table, the coffee table in front of the couch, and dusting off the entertainment cabinet. I also reorganized all the music CD’s in the rack and DVD’s in alphabetical order. I moved to the bathroom and cleaned the sink, tub and toilet, Wiped down the mirror. Gabbed all the towels and washcloths and threw them in the washing machine to wash and made lunch around one pm. The phone rang and the answering machine picked up and Jade was on the phone asking if I would pick up. I picked up and Jade told me that on Friday we would all be going out to a club to see a friend play in his band and to be ready at around sevenish, I said “OK! I had never been to a club before.” as most were more for well known people or for those who frequented, or needed you to buy a drink in order to stay inside or risk getting thrown out. Jade said don’t worry about dinner. After lunch I went to the bedrooms upstairs and started to pick things up and dust the shelves and things on them, seeing a laundry basket of dirty clothes I took it downstairs to wash. Realizing it was Jade’s clothes and feeling weird about touching his things. I hope Marissa did not object to me handling them, I went back upstairs to finish the other three rooms, Washing and drying clothes for each room. Making beds after I washed the blankets and sheets. It was well over 8 Pm, when I finished all the cleaning and had started to cook dinner for myself as Jade said no one would be home till after 12 AM and would have dinner in the studio. I went to bed after I washed the dishes from lunch and dinner.
Davey, Jade, Hunter, Adam and Smith returned home at 12:30 Am, tired and talking about the song they had been working on that day trying to fix the kinks before recording. They just stood there quietly as they surveyed the room; left dirty in the morning was now clean and organized. Hunter spoke first, “Did she do this?” Adam said “yeah most likely.” Smith being his funny self said “Hey we have a maid!” Davey and Jade looked at smith and Jade said “I think we need to thank her for this.” as Adam went up to his room he shared with Davey.
Smith and Jade followed going into the room they shared, being brothers. And Hunter went to his room and saw it was clean as well.
The next morning was just as quiet as the last when I woke up, so thinking that The guys had already left I went to the kitchen to have breakfast, and was greeted with fresh coffee and four smiling faces. Everyone said thank you to me for cleaning the whole house along with questions on how I managed to do so much in only one day. I said “having 5 kids you learn to take care of things faster.” I grabbed some food and ate, going into the bathroom to shower as the guys started to leave for work. I repeated the work from the day before only less so, but sweeping and mopping the kitchen and bathroom floors and vacuuming the carpets in the other rooms and sat down to watch TV. Remembering we would be going out that night I decided to eat lunch and take a nap.
I turned off the TV as I headed into my room and set my alarm for 5 PM.
Upon waking up from my nap I went to use the toilet and washed my hands and headed for the kitchen to cook dinner. I looked at every thing in the cupboards to take stock of the items I had to work with I set about preparing dinner for everyone as they would be home soon, So I cooked some Chinese style food. A made Some baked turnip pastries and Creamed spinach with soymilk and fried some eggplant with mushrooms and onions steamed some rice in a sauce pan, while I set to work on a simple soup with vegetable broth, some ginger and carrots with seaweed and tofu and setting the table just in time as everyone walked into the door. Davey commented that the kitchen smelled good, I just smiled and said “Thank you.” As we all sat down to eat, Hunter asked if it was Vegan, I just glared at him and said “Yes!” Everyone ate and there was nothing left.
We were about to head out so I cleaned myself up and putting on my pink and black tank top and the black jeans with the black ankle length books and fixed my hair as Jade walked in and said Marissa had gotten me some make up. I thanked him and asked him to thank her for me and he said she would meet us at the club. I started to apply the eye liner to my eye lids and the mascara and eye shadow, putting on some lip gloss instead of the lipstick as it was the wrong shade for my complexion.
Finished we all piled into the van again with Davey driving once more thinking it might be his van or that he always drove, Adam always sitting next to him in the front passenger seat. And Jade sitting next to me while Smith and Hunter sat in the third row. We got there just as the clock struck 8 PM. Walking up to the door as Davey parked the van, Jade told the door guard that I was with them and the bouncer let us all in and Hunter reminded the man that Davey would be coming in a few minutes as he was parking. Inside the music was loud electronica with a rap beat, A DJ was working up front and said a local band would be out to take his place within a few minutes.
We sat down at a large group chair set with tables, and we all ordered drinks. Adam asked me what I would like to drink, I couldn’t decide so he ordered a beer for me as Davey joined us. The band finally came out to the stage as the DJ left it, welcoming the band as the audience in the room clapped hands and some cheered. I did not catch the name. Marissa joined us just as the band started to play, bringing along with her a friend of hers, and she introduced us. The girls name was Chloe. A beautiful, African American woman, about my age with a nice complexion and a tight spiral perm. Chloe sat next to me and we talked as the band played on. The band had played for the most part of an hour when the guitarist made a mistake doing a jump and landed on the ground in the audience twisting his foot as he came down. So the band decided the show was over and left the stage as the DJ came back up to play again before the next band was ready. We decided to go home and walked out and we saw the drummer from the other band take the guitarist who twisted his foot go in the direction of the hospital. Marissa took Chloe home and I got into the Van with the guys to head home.
Being almost 11PM, I got ready for bed as I was not able to handle the daily early morning rise and late night bed.
I said good night to Jade, as he walked into the bathroom and to Adam as he headed upstairs to his room. I closed the door and turned out the light as I undressed and put on my new night gown. I got under the covers and had a hard time falling asleep, so about an hour of laying there I got up and put on my night robe and went to the kitchen for a drink and found Davey there eating cookies and drinking soymilk. I sat down and joined him eating at least two cookies and drinking a full glass of soymilk. We talked about the studio and how nicely the song were coming along and trying to describe how they sound. Then all of a sudden Davey had an idea that I should come with them this time so I would not get bored being home alone all the time. So I agreed to tag along with the guys the next day. I put my glass into the sink and said good night to Davey and went to my room while Davey turned off the TV and living room lights because Smith had passed out on the couch drunk. I was able to fall asleep this time around but I woke up early at 7:30 Am after only 6 hours sleep.
I got my things for a shower and readied myself for the morning and went to the kitchen to have breakfast only to discover everyone was all ready to go and eating. After we finished we pile back into the van and headed to the studio. Once the van was parked we got out and walked to a side door and got to a security guard where everyone signed in, Thinking I should too, I signed my name as well. Hunter told the security guard I was with them. He nodded and let us pass, and we went to the room where the guys recorded the songs for the new album. Odd, low slung ceilings with a grey carpet and white walls, sort of cramped. I saw a couch on the other side of the room and went to sit down and write in my notebook. I usually write every now and then, but I hadn’t had the time lately so I wrote about the last few weeks’ worth of happenings while I listened to they guys play and make some tweaks here and there on the song they were working on. When I had finished I looked up to a clock on the wall and realized it was time for lunch. Jade had turned in my direction trying to do something and noticed the direction of my eyes and looked up to the clock as well, as they finished the part they were on Jade said it was lunchtime so everyone put things away and turned out the light to the recording room. We walked out to the van and headed out to eat.
Things pretty much were the same like that for the next few weeks, as the guys alternated between leaving me home to take care of things or take me with them.
I decided that it was a big hassle to them to take me with them. So, I told them I would stay home more often.
About a week after being left home alone everyday, Jade asked me to come to the kitchen table and sit down. Everyone was sitting down at the table looking at me, I thought I had done something wrong and Davey sensed I was feeling uncomfortable. He told me to relax. As I sat down, Jade spoke to me. First he thanked me for all the work I did around the house and outlined most of the work I had done, including the gardening I did the day before, all the cooking and laundry and being very quiet while I was in the studio. I nodded and said “no problem!” Jade looked around at Hunter, Adam and Davey and said to me as he looked back at me “We think it is time you got paid for your work.” I sat there in silence and shock over his words, I thought my mouth was hanging open, so I itched my face to check; nope it was still closed, thank god for that.
Then Jade reached over to me with money in his hand and I felt panic, I was too embarrassed to take the money. After all they had done for me and they were taking more money out of their pockets to give to me. Crestfallen I refused the money and said I would not take it. Jade tried again to get me to accept the money but yet again I refused. I started out with an apology, “I know you guys work hard for your money and I am just a stray dog you let in, but I can’t take your money because everything I do here is out of thanks to you for everything you had done for me. You gave me a place to stay and food to eat, clean clothes and a part of your lives that no other fan has ever seen or even dreamed of.”
Davey said to me “Alex you deserve this money, you might want to buy something for yourself someday and this could come in handy.”
I still shook my head and apologized once more this time my apology pissed off Hunter who roared at me “Just take the God damned money. You make all these apologies like some servant slaving all day and we are just trying to be nice, why do you have to be so submissive?”
I shrank down into my seat and sealed my lips because I knew I would actually cry over the answer I would give them. And being pissed off with myself for feeling like that and trying to remember the last time I did cry, almost a year and a half ago. This time when Jade pushed the money into my hand I hung me head low and accepted it, giving a quiet defeated “thank you very much.” I just sat there for a while looking down at the table as they all sat there waiting, I spoke up and told them How I felt, I think it was the first time in my life since my mother passed away that I told someone other than my dad how I truly felt about my life and my situation and gave them the whole story from the beginning of my family breakdown, my first marriage, my divorce from him, and the abuse I suffered at the hands of a married man who did things to me while his wife was away from home, running away from them and finding my parents after six years and my parents separation, while I moved upstate to live in the courtesy of a woman who had an office in an old farmhouse and I lived upstairs.
I explained further about my marriage to my second husband and how we fell apart, the abuse the cheating and all the lies and finally about my kids he took away from me and my full year on the street until we met by fate and brought me home with them.
When I was done all were silent and Hunter was the first to move. He stood up and walked over to me and put his arms around me and apologized for yelling at me. A tear trickled down my face and he kissed my forehead. Adam said “Wow! How did you survive so long in such horrible conditions?” I simply said “Your music.” Davey was silent almost like he was thinking of something to say but couldn’t find a gentle way of saying it. Jade said to me that “things were going to be different for me from now on and I would never have to worry about any of this repeating in my life and that we would fight to get custody of my children.”
I smiled in gratitude and again said “thank you.” I then smiled for the first time for real, that they had ever seen as I had never smiled before since I had left China, as there really was nothing in my life that made me happy other than my kids.
But knowing that now I had made a life long friend in all of them and seeing Hunter break out of his dislike for me, I was truly happy for the first time in years.
I grabbed the news paper after putting the money into my pocket, and started to read it.
The next day I got up and made breakfast for everyone and baked some fresh blueberry muffins and as we were eating Jade told me he had an idea that came to thought the night before and told me he would be taking me out. So me, Jade and Marissa got into Jades car and we drove off. Jade took me to an Adult education center and signed me up for high school diploma course. I had basic math and English and Science along with history and an elective, he told me to choose between art or music. I chose music and he became curious as to why I chose it. I told him I was in the school band when I was younger and I could play trumpet and French horn, or at least I did know back then. But the school counselor told me those spots were already filled and the only spot available was jazz guitar, so I took it. Jade was impressed as I told him I knew how to restring and tune a guitar at least in standard tuning and knew one song and had dabbled around with an electric guitar and my dad was holding on to my guitar for me. I explained it was all Jade that got me interested, but I had bought a guitar for my sister Rachel for her 16th birthday and my uncle David would not let her have it, so I kept it for her. One day while cleaning my bedroom I looked into the corner at the lonely guitar sitting there on the floor and I decided to clean it up and buy new strings, how I had gone online to learn how to restring it and tune it. And that I had messed around with it until I had something going for me, and that he had become my role model.
The three of us got something to eat and headed home, just then, Jade turned the car into a store parking lot and drove over to a music shop that sold guitars. We got out and walked into the store and Jade picked out a very beautiful and very expensive guitar. It was so beautiful. A blood red Les Paul studio and amp with a jack cord to hook them together and a few sets of strings and a handful of picks.
He hooked the Les Paul to a store amp and sat me down to play it and I tried to remember the little song I made when I was pregnant with Siobhan. I quickly remembered it and started to play the song with a clean sound and the replayed it with some distortion, and Jade was very impressed. I told him how I came to learn the song and he asked me if it had a name; I told him it was just a lullaby. After paying for it and loading it all into the car we went back home and I had a heck of a time telling Adam and Hunter and Davey everything while Hunter was kind of just drunk looking while he was listening.
So for the next few months I spent studying my freshman year materials and getting good grades as much as possible, while practicing my music, still cooking and cleaning. I had to have help with math as my basics were really thin, but I scrapped by with just a C+. But for the most part I got an A+ in ever other class I took. I finally completed my first year of studies with a 3.0 grade point average. And the guys were ready to hit the road touring again having finished the album. Everyone was busy packing this and that and putting them in to trunks and loading up on some food. Davey suggested that I go along with them and it seemed as if it was already set into stone as the others looked at me and Hunter said “start packing”. I asked them what I would do. Jade said “Keep studying. Keep playing your guitar, I have an extra acoustic you can use.” And looking at me very directly when I asked where I would sleep and hunter gave me a wry smile and said “in my bunk with me.” Everyone cracked up laughing; even though I laughed to I felt a weird nagging feeling like something would go wrong with this idea. So we spent the rest of the day finishing up with the packing and then we went out to a club together, where I was able to talk to Chloe after I had spent the last 3 months busy with my studies. We had lots of catching up to do. We had become friends shortly after Marissa first introduced us. I couldn’t have been more happy with the night We were all talking and listening to the music and once in a while Jade and Marissa got up to dance and then the party was interrupted by some noisy guests, as Nils, RJ and Fritch the merchandise guy came and sat down. Nils was playing around with Davey and asked him when he would meet his “special one.” Sitting on Davey’ lap. Davey did not protest saying he was waiting for the right time.
When Jade and Marissa came back from dancing, Marissa excused herself to the restroom and Chloe and I followed. While Jade and RJ talked shop and what was still needed to do and cross check the list of things to do before leaving to go on tour. Adam sat quietly drinking a beer, his girlfriend; Miranda had to go home early as she had to go to work at 8 AM the next morning. Smith joking around with him every now and then, they would bust out laughing.
While in the restroom, Chloe and Marissa were talking and I started to wash my hands as she turned to me and asked me how I felt about going on the road. I asked her how she felt, seeking an answer from her first before I gave her mine. She started out hesitant, but got angry all of a sudden and warned me to keep clear of Jade. I asked her why after all this time she was jealous. She told me it was “because Jade spent so much effort on me and I was staying in the same house he was while she was home alone, and that I would be in tight quarters with him while she stayed yet alone at home.” I tried to reassure her I was not looking to do anything with him as I decided to list every reason I had. I told her “number one I have always been the victim of a woman stealing my man and could never even think of being the kind of woman to steal another woman’ man. Number two I don’t want a married man when there are fresh men out there. And number three I just wasn’t interested in men like I used to be after all the abuse I went through. And the last one, Jade is straightedge and would never do that to you anyways no matter how things went wither I threw myself on him or not. He would never do that with me, He would never do that with any woman. He is a man who deserves respect. And he gets that from me, it was because of him that my life got back together again after being torn down and abandoned for so long. And if you doubt me then you also doubt Jade and you have no faith in either of us, we are just friends and I would like it to stay that way. Jade talked the guys into agreeing to let me stay. And if there would be one thing I could say it would be this, you should have told him how you felt, Maybe he would have sent me to stay with you and then you would not feel like I was taking him away from you.”
She was angry and left the restroom and I looked at Chloe and decided I needed a drink so we went over to the bar area after leaving the restroom and got a drink. She got a club soda with a twist of lime and I ordered mix of Hennessey XO with half a coke and lime on ice. Looking over at the group sitting together, I noticed Jade and Marissa standing away from the rest, As Smith and Adam joked around Hunter laughing and making silly faces using his hands to exaggerate something, Marissa doing something similar and yelling at Jade, the music drowned out her voice. Jade just stood there upset looking and his arms crossed at time speaking out. I could read his lips as he said No way! It’s not possible, I would never…….. I turned to look at the rest of the guys as they sat there oblivious to the fight Jade and Marissa were having. Davey gave a brilliant flashing smile after Smith started to jump up and down pretending to be a really drunk monkey, Nils staring at him intently, a thinking expression on his face.
I never did like Nils, he seemed like a giant asshole, and I could do without seeing him for the rest of my life, But he was Davey’ friend. And was I to judge someone who judged me far worse. I glanced back at Jade and Marissa before I realized I had not been paying attention to Chloe, Marissa stalked away with deadly rage and Jade just shook his head and sat down quietly and finished his glass of soda. Chloe asked me if I was all right and said I wasn’t paying attention to what she was saying, I immediately apologized and asked her to repeat it. She did thankfully. Talking about Her parents, wanting her to Marry Patrick, her boyfriend from New York.
We sat there drinking and talking and Chloe said it was time to go home and we walked over to the guys and said it was time to head home it was almost 2 AM. As we walked out to the van and cars in the parking lot, Chloe immediately screeched, “Patrick! What the hell do you think you are doing? I can’t believe you.” I looked at Patrick, an African American man who was kissing a woman and it looked like a whole lot more as her skirt was above her hips and he was trying to fix his zipper and button. Being drunk and hearing another man named Patrick having cheated on his woman, I lost control, took two steps forward and kicked him squarely in the nuts dropping his worthless ass to the ground and Drove my right fist right into his face repeatedly, until blood was coming out his nose and mouth. Screaming obscenities left and right, kicking him in the chest. Jade pulled me off the man and tried to hold me down in his arms against his chest. Making, Marissa glare at me as she was already in the parking lot getting ready to go home after arguing with Jade. I shook Jade off.
And I slammed my foot back into Patrick’s crotch, causing him to vomit from pain.
Jade pulled me off with Hunter’s help and Hunter held me this time face to face and squeezing me so I could not get free and I was struggling to break free and kick the shit out of Patrick.
Trying to pull me towards the van and get my drunken ass home was quite a feat for Hunter as Davey ran to the van to unlock the doors and Jade told Patrick to go home that I was just drunk.
He yelled at me and called me a fucking bitch. I was renewed with strength and shoved away from Hunter, breaking his hold on me for a split second as he scrambled to grab me again, pushing me against the van and pushing his body against mine holding me in check, until I could feel him pressed close to my hip. A delicious sensation rushed through me and I shivered, Hunter thought it was just from adrenalin and rage. Stroking my hair, he put his mouth to my ear and started to whisper to me to calm down, but his breath was warm on my ear and neck, his voice so low and quiet trying to soothe me was actually working, but not in the way he was using it for. My body flushed and the heat spread through me, I started to speak and using his weight as an excuse for him to let me go because I could not breathe, wasn’t so far from the truth. But I was saddened by the loss of warmth. Wishing I had said nothing so I could feel him again. I almost reached up and gave him a kiss, but I held my physical reaction to him in check.
I was unsure of what his reaction would be if I let myself do that.
He opened the door and I climbed in and he followed. We sat in the third row and he buckled the seatbelt around my waist. And then buckled him self in as well. Adam got the usual front seat and Jade and Smith the second row seats in the van. Everyone was so quiet on the ride home I fell asleep with my head drooping onto Hunter’ shoulder, a lean hard strong shoulder that was perfect for breaking down doors or using as a pillow.
After returning home I was unable to wake up and walk, I felt Hunter move away from me and I moaned in protest at the loss of my man pillow. He put his arms around my waist and said “c’mon babe lets go to bed.” I purred in his ear as he pulled me to him and drunk or not he understood “I wanted to go to bed with HIM!” As I wrapped one arm around his shoulder and put the other on his chest, I buried my face into his neck and kissed it. He carried me into the house and lay me on the bed taking off my shoes as Davey, Jade, Adam and Smith were discussing what had happened. Smith loudly exclaimed “Did you see what she did? Did you even see what she fucking did?” And Jade stared at him while Smith continued. “She kicked that mother fucker straight in the cherry popper! That boy got his ass whooped by a chick, man!”
Hunter pulled the covers up to my shoulders and leaned down giving me a tender lingering kiss on my lips, and as he pulled away he whispered “good night love” as he left the room closing the door.
I fell into a deep sleep where Hunter and I were all alone making love on the living room floor. I could feel him pressed against me, the scent from his body driving me uncontrollably, his hands cupping my breasts, kissing them and nipping the tight hard nipples until I moaned with pleasure. His hard length pressing into the skin near my hot spot, begging him to enter me as I spread my legs for him and arched my back, throwing my head back so he could kiss my neck and nibble my ears. Not giving me what I wanted I hissed in anger. I started to thrust my body against his manly parts breath ragged from sexual tension, he bit down on my neck and I purred like a kitten then he started to bite down hard enough to leave bite marks my purr growing into a full fledged scream of ecstasy reaching an orgasm to new heights I had never had before even as he had never entered me. I woke up thrusting my hips back and forth, rubbing my crotch to satisfy the burning longing there. I opened my eyes in embarrassment thinking someone could have been standing there the whole time watching, I wondered if anyone had heard me. I cursed Hunter for making me feel like a horny teenager again and walked into the bathroom to shower as a cold shower would wash away the just got laid glow that showed on my face and to cool off from the arousing hot dream still wet down there as I stepped into the shower spray.

Prologue
So it started like any other day, like any I had for the past year or so since my ex-husband sent me back to America on a one way flight, supposedly back to Michigan, but in fact being dropped off in San Francisco instead. After going from shelter to shelter with no vacancies, I migrated to Los Angeles. As I thought about my kids and not knowing their whereabouts and worrying about their safety, I started to cry. But being cold, hungry and wet from the rain I got up from the cardboard box I used as a bed at night so I would not get too dirty. The old abandoned warehouse in the middle of a vast sprawling industrial complex had been my home for over a year. I started to head towards a bakery where the owner who took pity on the homeless would hand out fresh baked bread and soymilk. The only bakery with a vegan owner, who gave out food to homeless people early in the morning. Being Vegan sure was a pain when being homeless I thought to myself, it was a hard life. So after I finished my breakfast and talked to the owner I said my goodbyes and started walking to the shelter across town for lunch. Wearing a pair of old faded dark green cargo pants and black tank top covered with a faded black denim jacket and a pair of old dirty white adidas sneakers with green stripes on the sides, I began my daily trek.
Somewhere about an hour into my trek I stopped in a burger king fast food joint and used the restroom. Washing my hands, face and hair with the liquid soap in the sink, I used the hand dryer and dried my hair before setting off once again. I was walking down a sidewalk next to a busy road watching all the people rush to their favorite restaurants for lunch.
Suddenly spotting a bag with two containers of takeout food on the tables in front of a vegan/vegetarian restaurant and seeing no one there I made up my mind to steal the bag. Taking a deep breath I made a run for it just as six guys walked out. Hand on bag still running, without missing a step, kept going. One of the men yelled out at me. I looked back over my shoulder and saw a shaved-headed man chasing after me, as the other men looking disgruntled yelled at the man running after me to let it go.
But their words went on unheeded. I ran out into the traffic and across the road and shot down an alley way that would lead to a hiding place I used before to escape a group of men who tried to rape me but I hid till they gave up. Thinking I would be safe, I went there. After reaching the old building I peeked out a window, no one, so I went in to another room sat down and ate a delicious Vegan meal.
After finishing the food And feeling full, I went back on my way, only as I stepped out the small hole in the old locked door, a large man’s hand came into view and grabbed my collar of my coat.
I tried to twist free stepping on his foot and looking at the face of my captor, it was the man who chased after me from the restaurant. I saw the other men he was with as they caught up, slightly out of breath after running so long. I kicked his leg and twisted free and ran as hard as I could on a full stomach. All six of them close on my heel. I came to a dead end fence with barbed wire up on top, and I climbed the six foot high fence and jumped down the other side, cutting my hand open on the barbed wire as the men approached me. I took a moment to catch my breath as I took a white handkerchief from my pocket to stop the bleeding wondering if they would climb the fence after me.
As they got to the fence the shaved-headed man swore under his breath at me something I couldn’t make out. Looking at him in fear, I kept my eyes on all six of the men and the shaved-headed man yelled at me “You know it’s rude to steal from people?” I looked at him noticing his bright clear green-blue eyes that twinkled in rage. I mumbled an apology and said something about being hungry. I turned and ran again as he started to say something else to the others.
I had noticed the other men with him, the one who had told him to let it go had dark hair on the sides and a blond streak in the middle that was roughed up in the back, tall and thin with large sad looking brown eyes. The other two next to him one with shaggy black wavy hair and broad shoulders and a rough face reminding me of my father, the other with long dark hair and blond highlights on the left side and a short crop on the right side of his head. And a very large tattooed man with a baseball cap looking like a New York City hip hop junkie and another, more older man.
It took me some time to realize I knew who the men were. After all I had seen enough pictures of them on the internet.
They were the band members of AFI. My favorite band in the whole world. I felt like a complete fuckin’ ass for stealing the shaved-headed man’s food, Hunter Burgan was the bassist for the band a Vegan who also had a side project band called Hunter Revenge. The man with the dark hair and blond streak was Jade Puget, the guitarist. Then Adam Carson, the man who reminded me of my father was the drummer. And the man with the weird cut hair was Davey Havok; he was the bands front man, the singer. I always thought he was prettier than me. The tattooed man was Smith Puget, Jade’s brother and the bands tour manager. The last guy I recognized but couldn’t remember his name. He worked as the merchandise sales man when they were on tour.
Feeling like crap after what had happened I didn’t eat much dinner at the shelter that night.
The shelter coordinators and residents didn’t notice as they knew I was Vegan and would not partake in the food with them that contained meat in it.
Later, I thanked the shelter coordinators for the meal and proceeded to return to my little home in the abandoned warehouse where I lived for the last year.
Walking as the dark over took the day, sun fading in the west, at least the rain had stopped some time ago I thought to myself. After all the shelter allowed me to shower and change into some clean clothes, A tight pair of denim jeans and a light pink tank top with a white cotton blouse tied in the front.
I felt much better than before, forgetting the day’s events and wondering what my future would be.
I did not see the shadows in an alley darkened by nightfall. I was grabbed and pulled into the alley, a fist slamming into my gut, knocking the air from my lungs as I dropped to my knees as a hand pulled me by my hair back up to my feet.
It was the rape gang I had hid from a few weeks before. The leader of the group, a big burly beer gut man with malice in his eyes and a malicious smile pasted thinly across his face said “It’s good to see you again. We have some unfinished business to take care of.” Laughing as he unbuttoned and pulled down the zipper of his pants.
The only thought running through my mind was “damn, I am in trouble now, no way out of this.” The other three men who held me leered and laughed at me as the other man grabbed my shirt to rip it off of me, trying to scream but no words came out I heard footsteps running down the alley way and a blur of shadows knocked the man to the ground with a grunt, and a fight with my captors with my potential “savior” ensued. Seemingly like a lifetime had passed but was really only five minutes, my captors took off running having been beat.
I turned to my “saviors” in gratitude and started to say thanks when I came face to face with bright green-blue eyes hazed over by adrenalin from the fight, Hunter’s eyes. Captivating me for a second as fear of another abuse flooded my senses, he had a devilish look on his face, and the guys had saved me warding off an attack. “Are you alright?” Jade Asked. “yes.” Was my breathless reply. “Why don’t we go across the street for some coffee and rest?” He said. Not really a question, but I nodded my head in acceptance at the offer.
Sitting at a large table, I noticed a woman who seemed very much younger then myself seated next to Jade. Her honey blond cream hair done up and grayish-black eye shadow framing her beautiful eyes, reminding me of Paris Hilton, I realized she was Jade’s wife Marissa. While a tall thin woman with long straight hair was sitting next to Adam, a girlfriend maybe I thought.
Davey spoke up first, after we had all ordered our drinks, “We gotta stop running after you girl.” I smiled thin and weak, hoping I did not look too unenthusiastic. “What’s your name?” Jade asked me as we waited for our drinks. I replied “Alexandria, But I go by Alex. My friends call me Pinky.” I added. “What are you doing out on the street? Stealing food again are you?” Adam Asked bluntly. “No! They are a group of womanizing douche bags. They tried this once before but I escaped them last time.” I replied. “How long have you been out on the street?” Davey asked me. “About a year.” Now the weariness beginning to take its toll after all the excitement and fear controlled adrenalin started to run low. Our drinks arrived and I took my first sip of a fresh hot Green Tea soy latte in almost a year. Letting the pumpkin like flavor wash down, scalding my tongue and throat, wincing from the burning in my mouth. After Jade and Davey asked me a few questions about how I came to be on the street and a long explanation, All the while Hunter just glared like I was the worst person he had ever seen, I excused myself to the restroom.
Washing my hands and looking in the mirror to fix my hair. And then retuned to the table where the guys were waiting for me.
“I don’t think it is right for you to live out on the street. We have been talking it over while you were in the restroom” Started out Jade, “We think we will take you in” Added Davey. I started to protest as I had been doing well on my own for the past year, Jade cut me off in mid protest, silencing me with a look that said my fate was sealed. I looked down and mumbled a sad excuse for a thank you to the men who saved me many times in many different ways, as they sat around me looking at my sad appearance all the while Hunter just glared at me menacingly.
I could tell that he was the only one not approving this decision at all. Davey just looked between Hunter and Jade with a look of a father thinking about how best to stop a fight, with a worried look on his face. Jade asked me if I had any belongings. I nodded my head and told them where I had been living for the last year. They all looked at me in shock. Davey said “That’s no place for a girl to live!” I shot out to angry to care how it sounded “I am not a little girl, I am almost 29!” Their eyes widened and Adam let a cuss slip out under his breath.
After paying for the bill and finishing our coffees we all piled into a big dark cargo van, Davey was driving and Adam riding gunshot. Jade and Marissa was sitting next to me in the second row and Smith and hunter behind us in the third row of seats. Adam’s girlfriend took her own car as there did not seem to be enough room for everyone. We set off for the old warehouse to get all my things.
I walked into the ware house as they followed behind me, nervously I crawled under some old boards propped up against a door to a closet that I slept in and grabbed my duffle bag and a box of my things that I had filled full and pushed them out of the hole and slid them from under the boards. As my things were placed into the back of the van and we once again piled inside, I took one last look at my old home and said good bye, we headed to the house I would call my new home.
When we got inside Marissa went to get me some clothes to sleep in and fixed a bath for me, while Jade fixed up a room for me to sleep in as Davey helped him. Adam, Hunter and Smith sat down watching the last of a football game on television. As I came out of the bathroom after I had finished bathing Jade suggested to all we get some rest because we had a big day tomorrow. I walked into my new room and turned around to say thank you and good night, Jade said “don’t mention it.” I turned out the light and closed the door as I turned to face the bed, but feeling uncomfortable about sleeping in someone’s bed; I walked over to the dresser and the desk and crawled under it to sleep on the floor with the chair hiding me for protection. I quickly fell asleep soon after I lay my head down on the carpet.
Dreaming of my kids in Taiwan, that my ex-husband took from me. Being lost on the streets of LA, and the men who had hunted me for the last four months with intent to harm me. I woke up and quickly fell asleep again. This time in a deep dreamless sleep until the sun came up in the morning.
Somewhere about an hour into my trek I stopped in a burger king fast food joint and used the restroom.
